FOR HEALING - Lend a hand to heal a broken heart.
On September 30, 2017, I, Jack Cover will compete in an event where multiple
teams and individuals will paddle canoes and kayaks in a 410-mile Canoe-Kayak
race. My participation in the race is to benefit Healing House, a non-profit organization committed to helping
children ages 4-18 work through the death of a parent, sibling or primary
Healing House gives children who have experienced a death of a
loved one a safe place to express their thoughts and feelings in a variety of
ways. It does not provide counseling or
therapy. In support groups facilitated
by trained volunteers, children learn to express their grief through
interactive play, expressive artwork and discussion groups with peers
experiencing the same trauma. Healing House provides
loving support to about 180 kids every month on average and is growing. All services are provided
completely free of charge. Many parents also find a place to talk and
share feelings with others in their situation.
I am doing this to support a much-needed service in our area
that serves our children. I will be supported by a small crew, which includes
my wife Chenette, who has been a public school teacher of children with special
needs for 20 years, a school counselor for 18 years, and a volunteer
facilitator at Healing House for the last 15 years.
Our goal with the PADDLE FOR HEALING event is to provide Healing House with 100% of your
donations from the event. We also need
your help spreading the word of this worthy cause, which will make it possible
for Healing House to continue to
grow and to heal the hearts of hundreds of children every month. Let this event be your introduction to start
your ongoing support of Healing House.
